Introducing Smart Upload for Location Map – A Smarter Way to Upload Your Locations

We’re excited to introduce a brand new feature on Maply: Smart Upload for the Location Map Layer!

Gone are the days of reformatting your data to match Maply’s template. With Smart Upload, you can now upload your location data directly from your existing datasets—no need to align with Maply’s standard template. The Smart Upload intelligently recognizes both location and non-location data, and processes them accordingly. Once uploaded, your data will appear seamlessly on your map.

Smart Upload of Locations

What Makes It Smart?

  • Flexible Formats: Upload your data as-is—Maply will identify and categorize location fields (like address, city, zip code) and non-location fields automatically.
  • Multilingual Support: Smart Upload works with non-English location names too, making it accessible for users around the world.
  • All-in-One: Everything you upload is added into your Maply project and visualized instantly on the map.

We believe this will dramatically improve your Maply experience and make loading location data into Maply faster and more intuitive.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

While Smart Upload is designed to be flexible and user-friendly, here are a few guidelines to ensure a smooth experience:

  1. Country Column Required
Your upload must include a country column. Without it, the upload will be rejected.
  2. Column Limit
A maximum of 15 columns is allowed per upload. Please remove any excess columns before uploading.
  3. Header Naming Matters
Column headers are used to identify and classify your data. Use clear and relevant names for best upload results.

Still Prefer the Classic Way?

No worries—Classic Upload, which uses the standard Maply templates, will continue to be supported. You can switch between the two based on your needs.

Beta Availability

Please note that Smart Upload is currently only available for the Location Map Layer and is being released as a Beta feature. Uploading data to other layer types remains unchanged for now.

We’d love to hear what you think! Try it out and share your feedback to help us improve.

Happy mapping!
